The JCOP4 series Java cards
Jan 17th 2024
The JCOP4 series Java cards, including models J2R110, J3R110, J2R150, J3R150, and J3R180, represent the pinnacle of smart card technology following the J2A, J3A, J3D, and J3H series.
These cards maintain high security and performance while increasing data storage capacity and utilizing Flash chips, resulting in faster and more stable processing speeds. Prior to the J3H series, Java cards used EEPROM chips, whereas from the J3R series onwards, Flash chips are used.
The current J2R110, J3R110, J2R150, J3R150, and J3R180 Java cards come in two versions: EMV and SecID. The EMV version is primarily used in the financial sector, while the SecID version is mainly applied in the electronic identity sector, particularly in electronic ID cards, which utilize ECC algorithms and Gen Key encryption algorithms. The J3R SecID series has already received the CC EAL 6+ certification.
The J3R series Java cards feature 4K of RAM (Transient Memory), which is 0.8K more than the J3H series, and the APDU Buffer Size is expandable, providing greater flexibility and performance.
